Whole Family Nutrition & Market was started in May 1991 in Pontotoc, MS as retail store servicing an adjoining private women’s health gym. With a retail front and a sign that read, Health Food Store, the store also serviced walk-in customers from the surrounding area. The store marketed basic vitamins, herbs, sports nutrition products and some natural foods. In 2005, Warren and Michelle Barbieri acquired the business from Warren’s mother and changed the store’s name to The Health Food Store. With customer focus and inventory needs , the store went through two expansions and three moves to reach our current location on Hwy 15 Bypass in Pontotoc. Today, the original 30 year old sign reading, Health Food Store, hangs over the entrance of the store.
In January 2012, our second location, also named The Health Food Store opened in Tupelo, MS on McCullough Blvd. After four year of growth, the business outgrew the original space and began looking for a new home. In March 2016, the store was relocated to a newly remodeled building (damaged from Tupelo’s April 2014 tornado) within a specially designed space. With the move, also came a new name for the thirty year old business. Whole Family Nutrition & Market became our official doing business as name for both Tupelo and Pontotoc locations.
